DDWS created people's awareness through rally on the need to eradicate poverty and destitution in all its form and dimensions around the poor women, men and children belong to BPL and minority families living in poor and abject condition in the district of Allahabad. People living in the area are facing several issues related to food, health services, houses, livelihood options etc. Negative impact and effects of poverty, unemployment, poor and inadequate infrastructures in the area is a major problem for these population. “Wherever men, women and children are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated”. On the occasion women and children of our targeted area took out a mass rally. The women and children participated in the rally in full swing and shouted slogans on poverty like “Poverty should be reduced but poor should not be used, Poverty is not a curse, it is just a condition, Education is an effective solution for the poverty, Poverty is dangerous to the success of any nation, Poverty is a condition and it can be overcome through education, Poverty gives rise to many social issues in a nation” etc. at the top of their voice. Also, previous couple of days was dedicated to make preparation for the event on where the girls and women were seen creating the slogans for the rally, writing it on the chart papers and making placards all by themselves, practicing for various theme based items etc. Coming together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty, this rally was organized by DDWS. All together 378 poor and deprived children studying in our Non-formal Education centers along with their parents pledged their solidarity by holding a lighted candle and the Pla– cards with slogans to eradicate poverty written on it in English and Hindi that also justified their presence. This rally was translated into an inspiring framework of the goal to end poverty and have also enabled people across the area to improve their lives and their future prospects, to enable more girls to attend school than ever before and to protect our planet. At this juncture poor children and women created a lot of attention of the general masses. The level of engagement of the women and children were remarkable. The positive outlook involved was seen. They expressed their satisfaction and were fortunate to be the part of this global action created by Manos Unidas It is in this context that the recommendation for action from government against poverty is considered to be essential, respect for poor and to end poverty was an important goal of the programme. This concept recognizes the crucial role of the media to contribute to achieve what they are demanding for, and enable us to eventually bridge the gap between the destitute and government along with general masses. This rally offered the greatest and far-reaching tool for eradicating poverty because it made the people and the government aware, that they are also human being and actually want to come out of the situation they are living in. May this rally create a sense of understanding to serve the poor with concrete actions that address their daily needs. Nevertheless, a media outlet needs to stand against the living situation of the destitute. Undoubtedly, the most effective way of supporting them would be to persuade governments to abandon the constraints. The report therefore urges all Policy Actors, Government, including Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and the general masses to understand the need and provide their support to eradicated poverty.
