DDWS under the aegis on Manos Unidas implemented a project “Education and Rehabilitation
of children in Slums of Allahabad in the year 2017, in 20 slums areas of Allahabad,
with the objective to improve the educational status of children in slums of the
city of Allahabad and to work for their Rights. An effort is made to combine an
innovative and sensitive approach to understand the ground realities of sl um dwellers.
It has designed and developed a framework on conditions for integration, innovation
and implementation. Education and Rehabilitation of Children between the age group
of 6-14, by educating and rehabilitating them so that their educational status can
be improved and be able to get their Rights and privileges in the community and
also they can gain new awareness and self esteem . The project is covering 511children
from slum to enhance children better life and quality education through various
programs i.e NFE centre for school going children , Training for Non-formal education
teachers, Medical check-up through camps , awareness program on importance of the
education , health and their rights , conducting street-play and puppet shows, orientation
program on their Rights.
Major Achievements during the Year :
- 262 children living in a slum area were enrolled in government schools.
- 308 families received the aadhar card by the intervention of DDWS.
- 26 individual saving account was opened in Gramin Bank .
- 14 families are availing ration from government.
- 22 persons Pan Card was made.
- 23 persons access the right to vote as their voter ID was issue by the project
- 7 families were provided gas connection through Ujwalla Scheme.
- Health Camp was organized where 1500 community people health checkup was done.
- 637 children are availing education though DDWS remedial centre in slum areas.
